The short answer

A U.S. option belongs in the comparison if you prefer domestic care or want easier access to examinations and follow-up. Assess the individual surgeon and plan, and compare the full cost rather than assuming international travel will be better value.

Check the treating doctor in the relevant state

Ask for the doctor's full name, license details and treatment location. Use the relevant state medical board for the current record and any published restrictions. FSMB provides a directory of state boards. Confirm specialty claims separately with their issuing organization.

Local and domestic are different choices

A nearby clinic may reduce travel time and simplify an in-person review. An out-of-state clinic can still involve flights, hotel nights and later return visits. Ask the clinic how many visits its own plan requires before you compare the convenience.

If the U.S. treatment quote is higher, add the international flight, required stay and follow-up costs to the alternative. A fair comparison can make a domestic option more competitive than its headline price suggests.

Questions for your domestic shortlist

  • Which surgical stages will the named doctor perform?
  • What assessment is required before a firm quote?
  • Which follow-up visits are included, and where do they happen?
  • Is any facility, anesthesia or medication charge separate?
  • What clinical support is available outside ordinary office hours?

Keep both paths open until the details are clear

If you are flexible about location, ask us to include U.S. options alongside international ones. If staying domestic is important, make that a firm preference. You do not have to travel overseas to use Hairline Desk's research and coordination service.
